Important News Update

The Club held it’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 12th January 2024.

It was agreed unanimously, that due to rising costs and reducing numbers of exhibits in the Chrysanthemum classes in particular that we would amalgamate both the Summer and Autumn Show into one show.

The show will be held this year on Saturday 7th September. The schedule is being updated as we speak and will be available on line as soon as it is ready.

We hope all our previous exhibitors will continue to be able to support us as they have in previous years.

Dates for this Year

Our Summer Show has been confirmed for 5th August 2023 and our Autumn Show for 28th October 2023.

The Show Schedule is now available in PDF form on the website.

We look forward to seeing our regular exhibitors again this year. Please feel free to encourage friends and family members to come along and exhibit. There really is something for everyone whether it is flowers from your garden, a favourite pot plant, preserves, baking craft of floral arts. We have a novice section in each of the categories. There are always members of the committee available to assist newcomers on the day of the show so don’t let lack of experience exhibiting stop you joining in.

AUTUMN SHOW 2022

Our Autumn Show took place on Saturday 29th October 2022.

It was encouraging to see so many local exhibitors at the autumn show on Saturday, as well as those who came from further afield to support us. It was also lovely to see some new exhibitors. We hope you will be back next year!

All the judges commented on the high standard of the entries throughout and both the Vegetable judge and the Floral Art judge certainly had their work cut out judging the many entries in their respective sections. The floral art exhibits were a real joy to see.

Sadly the Chrysanthemum entries and cut flowers were down somewhat from previous years mainly due to individual circumstances although the weather has also played it’s part. The changes in the weather pattern are likely to be an ongoing issue for growers and exhibitors to deal with and we will all need to learn to adapt.

On behalf of the committee I would like to give a huge vote of thanks to the volunteers who helped set up and ‘put away’ at the end of the show, to those who helped in other ways on the day, to all the exhibitors, without whom there would be no show, and to the members of the public who came along to visit on the day. You have all helped in making the show a success.

To anyone who came along to visit – perhaps you might consider entering something next year? A pot plant, something in the baking section or the craft section? There is always someone on hand to assist beginners and you would be made most welcome. The more exhibits, the better the show.

Items for the craft section for the summer 2023 show are detailed in the current schedule if you are looking for something to do during the winter months.

Congratulations to all our trophy winners and to all those who won at the show.
